Jamie Vardy jokes the weather in Bologna helped him feel at home scoring his first Serie A brace for Cremonese. ‘We were just missing a bit of rain and it would’ve like a typical midweek game in the UK.’
The former Leicester City star has adapted very quickly to life in Italy since arriving as a free agent once the campaign had already kicked off for newly-promoted Cremonese.
He will turn 39 next month, but was definitely having a party on Monday evening when starring in the surprise 3-1 victory away to Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara.
It was his first brace in Serie A and his first MVP Award as player of the match, so did the chilly December evening in the fog help him feel at home?
“I think we were just missing a bit of rain and it would’ve been like a typical midweek game in the UK at this time of year,” joked Vardy on DAZN Italia.
“It was great to get two goals, but the most important thing was getting the three points, keeping that progress going now, and this was another step in the right direction.”
His Cremonese teammates have said that they are surprised the England international never complains about anything, as he seems to be genuinely enjoying his new experience in Italy.
Has he noticed the Italians complain a bit too much and forget to enjoy the football?
“No, not really. At the end of the day, there’s no complaining when we’re training. It’s all about commitment and what’s best for the club.
“Everyone’s on that same page and everyone is pushing forward to make sure come the end of the season we’ve had a successful year.”
Vardy now has four goals in nine Serie A appearances for Cremonese.
