Union Saint-Gilloise vs Inter – Chivu justifies squad rotation: “Everyone deserves to play”

Cristian Chivu explains why he has made so many changes to his Inter line-up for the Champions League trip to Union Saint-Gilloise.

There is a great deal of squad rotation, with Francesco Pio Esposito, Yann Bisseck, Davide Frattesi, Piotr Zielinski and Carlos Augusto stepping into the starting XI after Saturday’s win at Roma.

“We are playing after 72 hours, Pio showed he can give his contribution to the team, and everyone deserves to play, so choices are always difficult to make. I am very happy with the way all the players are responding and putting their all at the disposal of the squad,” Chivu told Sky Sport Italia.

Inter have put together a run of six consecutive victories in all competition, including the 2-0 over Ajax in Amsterdam and beating Slavia Praha 3-0 at San Siro.

The Nerazzurri are one of only six teams with a 100% record at the start of this Champions League campaign and will be hoping to keep the momentum going against a tricky Belgian side this evening.

After a shaky start to the season, Chivu’s Inter are showing signs of regeneration and their impressive run of victories is testament to the coach, his selection and his players.
