Udinese head coach Kosta Runjaic conceded his side rode their luck at times after rescuing a 1-1 draw against Lazio at the Bluenergy Stadium.
Speaking to DAZN after the final whistle, via LaLazioSiamoNoi, Runjaic acknowledged that fortune played a role in Udinese’s late equaliser but insisted the result was ultimately fair.
“We had a bit of luck, but the point is deserved,” he said, pointing to his team’s response after a difficult recent outing in Florence. “I’m happy with the team because we managed to put that behind us.”
Runjaic also praised Lazio’s organisation and threat on the counter-attack, admitting his side were pushed hard for long spells.
“They are a disciplined team, very focused, and they caused us problems,” he explained. “They are strong on the break and made things difficult for us.”
The Udinese coach also defended his decision to start Daniele Padelli in goal, describing it as fully justified by the veteran’s contribution.
“It was the right decision,” Runjaic said, referencing Padelli’s decisive late save to deny Gustav Isaksen and keep Udinese in the game.
Udinese’s late push was eventually rewarded as Keinan Davis struck to secure a point, bringing an end to a tense evening in Friuli.
