It has been a disastrous 24 hours for Torino, as after Ivan Ilic’s serious knee injury for Serbia, now Giovanni Simeone will also be out for at least six weeks.
The Granata watched in horror last night as Ilic took to the field for Serbia in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against England and went off with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament tear.
He is currently undergoing tests and there should be results soon.
Meanwhile, this afternoon Torino announced that striker Simeone had been diagnosed with a lesion of the myofascial membrane of the rectus femoris muscle in his left thigh.
Sky Sport Italia warn this type of injury means at least six weeks on the sidelines for the Argentine centre-forward.
The 30-year-old has scored four goals in 11 Serie A appearances this season, after making the move from Napoli on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of this term for a total €7m plus €1m in add-ons.
