Giovanni Daffara stole the spotlight in Monday’s Serie B action with a string of outstanding saves for Avellino, and it’s only a matter of time before Serie A clubs begin to show serious interest.
The 2004-born goalkeeper produced at least five high-difficulty stops, effectively securing a valuable point against Venezia and underlining his rapid rise.
The 21-year-old, who celebrated his birthday only a few days ago, is quickly emerging as one of Italy’s most intriguing young goalkeepers thanks to his explosive athleticism and well-rounded skill set. It seems only a matter of time before Serie A clubs begin to take a serious interest.
Daffara is owned by Juventus, who opted to loan him out to Irpinia after monitoring his progress with the NextGen squad.
He began the season behind veteran Antony Iannarilli, but an injury to the more experienced goalkeeper opened the door for him to claim the No.1 shirt, and he has taken full advantage of the opportunity.
Regardless of how Avellino’s campaign unfolds, the future appears firmly in Daffara’s hands.
