Rangers look to be closing in on Steven Gerrard’s re-appointment as boss with him having laid out the terms in which he wants to return under.
Rangers‘ poor start to this season saw doubts immediately surround Russell Martin‘s suitability for the head-coach role, and a 1-1 draw to Falkirk last weekend was the final straw for the club’s fans and hierarchy.
Martin was sacked as Rangers boss on Sunday (5 October) not long after the final whistle in that game, with the search immediately underway for his successor and a number of names publicly linked with the job.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (6 October) that Steven Gerrard would jump at the chance to return to Rangers, having previously managed at Ibrox between 2018 and 2021 as he led them to the Premiership title.
Gerrard has emerged as first-choice for the Rangers job, as also revealed by Football Insider on Friday (10 October), and some new details have now emerged about what he has asked for to return to the Ibrox dugout.
According to a new report from talkSPORT, Rangers are close to reaching a “total agreement” with Gerrard for him to become their manager for a second time.
The Liverpool legend is believed to have held “positive” in-person talks with chairman Andrew Cavanagh and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe in London on Thursday (9 October).
