Marcel Sabitzer reacted with irritation when asked about speculation surrounding his Borussia Dortmund future that emerged over the summer.
Reports suggested that Dortmund had considered selling the midfielder during the summer transfer window, but the 31-year-old denied any knowledge of this.
“Who did you hear that from?” he said following Dortmund’s 4-1 win over Athletic Club on Wednesday, adding that leaving BVB was never an option for him.
“I already said it at the Club World Cup: that was never a topic. I feel very comfortable here.”
Reflecting on last season, when Sabitzer wasn’t always a regular starter, he added:
“There are always personal ups and downs. Last year wasn’t an easy year, and everyone contributed in their own way.”
The midfielder has since fought his way back into the starting lineup and has started six of Dortmund’s seven games this season.
