Roma legend Daniele De Rossi is reportedly among the potential candidates to replace Patrick Vieira as head coach of Genoa, following the Frenchman’s sacking at the start of the weekend.
Genoa announced on Saturday that they have dismissed head coach Vieira following a winless start to the 2025-26 campaign, which has left the Grifone at the foot of the Serie A table with three points and zero victories from nine league matches.
Roberto Murgita and Domenico Criscito will lead Genoa into their Serie A match against Sassuolo as interims on Sunday.
Genoa will then look to appoint a permanent head coach on a long-term basis.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are several candidates who could take over at Genoa, and it has not yet been ruled out that Murgita and Criscito could be given the job on a longer-term basis.
Sunday’s report claims that De Rossi is also a potential option. Be has been out of work since leaving his beloved Roma four games into the 2024-25 season.
The likes of Raffaele Palladino, Paolo Vanoli and Luca Gotti are also on Genoa’s shortlist according to Sunday’s reports.
