Real Madrid is keen to sign Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo. The 23-year-old has largely impressed this season and is already on long term deal at Stamford Bridge.
His current deal expires in 2031, and TeamTalk has reported that Chelsea are now prepared to tie him down to fresh terms with improved wages as they attempt to ward off interest in their key man. He currently earns around £150,000 per-week, and could be set for pay bump that aligns him more closely with Chelsea’s top earners Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer.
Caicedo caused quite the scare amongst Chelsea fans when he publicly announced that he has sacked his agent Manuel Sierra and Ali Barat, saying he has now signed with “people he can trust”. Though the decision was made amidst contract negotiations talks, it is understood to be unrelated with the player happy with life in London.
Chelsea aim to add one or two more years to Caicedo’s deal, potentially tying him down beyond 2033.
PSG have also been credited with interest in Caicedo, but know prizing him from Chelsea would take quite some doing. Caicedo has been a revelation for Chelsea so far this season, becoming a cornerstone of their midfield next to Enzo Fernandez.
He has added goals to his game, scoring three goals in seven Premier League games including a screamer to open the scoring against Liverpool. He also leads the league in tackles won this season with 28, leading Premier League legends Gary Neville and John Obi Mikel to name him the best defensive midfielder in the Premier League.
Caicedo chose Chelsea over Liverpool in August of 2023 in what was then a record-breaking £115million deal from Brighton. After a slow start to life in London, he has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world.
