Pescara close in on new coach Gorgone

Pescara have made their decision: Giorgio Gorgone will be the club’s new head coach, and the official announcement will arrive in the next few hours.

As I revealed last night, Gorgone had pulled ahead of Francesco Modesto, and that advantage has now been confirmed.

From late afternoon yesterday, Pescara’s focus narrowed to two names, Gorgone and Modesto, but by Monday evening the decision was already effectively made.

There was no longer a real contest: the choice was set, and the club simply needed time to finalise the formal steps before making it public.

Gorgone, a former Pescara midfielder, coached Lucchese last season and is now ready for an important new challenge in Serie B after previous spells as an assistant.

He will sign a contract until next June, with an option for renewal in the event of survival. Vivarini’s dismissal will soon be made official.

Quick take: Touchline talk: leadership changes often bring short-term energy but require time for structure. Watch for shifts in pressing triggers, build-up patterns, and set-piece routines. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
