Parma confirm Suzuki surgery, Japan goalkeeper out for 3-4 months

Parma have announced that goalkeeper and Japan international Zion Suzuki has undergone surgery on a fracture and is expected to be out for three to four months.

The shot-stopper sustained the injury during the most recent Serie A match with AC Milan, which ended 2-2 at the Stadio Tardini over the weekend.

Although he underwent treatment and finished the game, it was only after the final whistle that the adrenaline wore off and he started to feel the extent of the pain.

Suzuki was taken to the nearby hospital for x-rays, which showed a fracture of the scaphoid and third finger of the left hand.

A statement today confirmed that the player underwent surgery at the Institute for Integrated Sports Medicine and Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo.

The head of Parma’s medical staff, Dr. Giulio Pasta, was present at the operation.

The rehabilitation process will now begin in Japan, with Sky Sport Italia reporting this means Suzuki will be out of action for circa three to four months.

He had been heavily linked with potential moves to Chelsea or AC Milan.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
