Young Apostles coach Abu Hanan refuses to judge controversial penalty decision in defeat to Asante Kotoko

Young Apostles head coach Abu Hanan declined to criticise the referee after his side fell to a dramatic 2–1 defeat to Asante Kotoko, who secured victory through a contentious stoppage-time penalty.Hanan addressed the incident carefully, noting that his technical area vantage point made it difficult to assess the challenge."That’s football. In football, decisions are made. And when decisions are made, we are sitting far away. We cannot judge. The referee is the final judge because I could see that there was a little grab," Hanan said after the game."So if there is a little grab, we leave it to the referee. It is at his discretion whether he gives a penalty or lets it go."Kotoko broke the deadlock six minutes into the second half when Hubert Gyau struck a superb effort to give the hosts a deserved lead.Young Apostles responded quickly, with Richmond Opoku rising to head in a well-worked equaliser three minutes later.Kotoko continued to apply pressure and created the better chances as the match entered its closing stages.Their persistence paid off deep into added time. Captain Samba O’Neil converted a late penalty. The victory moves Kotoko to fourth on the league...

Ibrahim Tanko focused on improvement ahead of Medeama’s clash with Bechem United

Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko is pleased with his team’s ability to grind out results, but he wants a better showing when they face Bechem United. The coach stressed that Medeama’s last league match, a 2-1 away win over Eleven Wonders, did not reflect the level he expects from his players. The victory in Techiman was hard-fought. Godknows Dzakpasu gave Medeama the lead with a fine strike, but the home side pushed back. Daniel Lomotey equalised after missing an earlier penalty, giving Eleven Wonders hope of rescuing a much-needed point in their battle at the bottom of the table. However, Medeama found their moment again when Nana Kofi Babil calmly finished to secure all three points.Tanko praised his side’s resilience but made it clear that they must raise their performance as the season gets tougher."No, I think we were determined to come back home with a good point and I think and looking at the overall performance I'm not 100% satisfied but I think with the three points away and the team has done a very very good job," he told Medeama TV.Medeama’s clash with Bechem United kicks off at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
