HSV prevailed 4-0 on a rainy evening in northern Germany, overpowering Mainz thanks to goals from Albert Sambi Lokonga, Jean-Luc Dompé, and a Rayan Philippe brace.Head coach Merlin Polzin shared his thoughts post game: 

As the January transfer window approaches, Pep Guardiola and the Manchester City board are already strategizing reinforcements after an inconsistent start to the Premier League season. Kickoff is set for 12 PM ET.

 Merlin Polzin’s side delivered an emphatic performance, scoring twice as many goals as they had in the entire season to date whilst overwhelming Bo Henriksen’s team from minute one. 

In difficult conditions, VfB battled their way to a hard-fought home victory despite not being at their best, thanks to a decisive strike from Bilal El Khannouss. The match-winner reflected afterwards:

Manchester City traveled to the Community Stadium to face Brentford on Matchday 7 of the Premier League, looking to climb back toward the top of the table after a rocky start to the season. However, the Citizens were dealt another blow when star midfielder Rodri suffered a new injury.

Eugen Polanski makes four changes from last week's defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Philipp Sander replaces Fabio Chiarodia, Luca Netz replaces Lukas Ullrich, Florian Neuhaus comes in to replace Kevin Stöger and Haris Tabakovic replaces Shuto Machino. Just the two changes from Thursday’s game in Bologna for Freiburg. Christian Günter replaces Jordy Makengo whilst Lucas Höler comes in for Johan Manzambi.  

In difficult conditions, Sebastian Hoeneß’s team secured the points thanks to a composed finish from summer signing Bilal El Khannouss.

Christian Eriksen has made three appearances for VfL Wolfsburg since joining the Bundesliga club towards the end of the summer transfer window, but is still awaiting his first start. 

HSV will hope to go into the international break with a three-game unbeaten run. The hosts scrambled for a goalless draw at Union Berlin following their first win back in Bundesliga against Heidenheim.

This Sunday, October 5, Barcelona visits Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium for Matchday 8 of LaLiga 2025–26. The Catalan giants enter the weekend as runners-up to Real Madrid and could reclaim the top spot with a victory. However, they will have to do so without their two main attacking stars — Lamine Yamal and Raphinha — both sidelined due to injury.

The Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal will miss one of Barcelona’s toughest away games of the season, as the league leaders visit Sevilla this Sunday at 10:15 PM ET. According to the club’s official medical report, Yamal is sidelined with a pubic muscle injury and is expected to be out for two to three weeks. His absence adds a layer of concern for Hansi Flick’s team ahead of the upcoming El Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26, which he may only narrowly recover for.

Sebastian Hoeneß’s side came off a defeat in Europa League to Basel, but they aim for a third successive home victory in the league. Heidenheim picked their first points of the season last week with a 2-1 win over Augsburg.
