Douglas Luiz is heading back to familiar surroundings after Aston Villa confirmed the midfielder’s return from Juventus on a loan deal for the rest of the 2025-26 season.
The Brazilian only left Villa Park in the summer of 2024 to join the Serie A giants, but the Premier League side have now brought him back to Birmingham in a move that reunites him with a club where he previously enjoyed the most productive spell of his career.
It follows a brief loan spell with Nottingham Forest this season, where the Brazilian struggled to have much involvement.
Villa described themselves, on their official website, as “delighted” to welcome the Brazilian back, with the midfielder set to rejoin the squad for the second half of the campaign.
Luiz originally signed for the club in 2019 and went on to make more than 200 appearances for the Premier League side, playing a key role as Villa climbed the table and secured qualification for European competition in successive seasons.
During his first stint, Luiz became a fan favourite thanks to his energy, technical quality and eye for goal from midfield.
His importance to the dressing room was underlined when he swept the club’s end-of-season awards in 2022-23, being voted both Players’ Player of the the Season and Supporters’ Player of the Season.
“I miss Villa guys, I miss to play in Villa Park, I miss everything… always in my heart.” 🫶
