Matteo Moretto has responded to the rumours of a potential Ricci-Gatti swap between AC Milan and Juventus, stating that it’s definitely not a concrete idea for now.
Milan need to reinforce their defence with a centre-back next month, given the lack of depth in the back three, and various names have been linked with the club. One of Massimiliano Allegri’s favourites, the Juve centre-back Federico Gatti, is the latest one.
Yesterday, La Repubblica even reported that a swap involving Gatti and Milan’s Samuele Ricci could be a solution. Allegri wants the defender and the Bianconeri manager Luciano Spalletti wants the midfielder, but it seems these links are not concrete.
In his latest video on YouTube, Matteo Moretto responded to the rumours as he – along with Fabrizio Romano – have been showered by questions about it. While he confirmed that Allegri has had contact with Gatti, the swap hypothesis isn’t at all concrete.
“Milan are definitely looking for a centre-back in this January transfer window. The goal is to get a defender on loan, if possible.
“What we understand regarding Federico Gatti is that to date, there has been a call from Allegri to Gatti, but above all there is no negotiation between Juventus and Milan.
“There is no agreement on this name within the Milan management, and for this reason, I can also tell you that the hypothesis of a swap with Ricci isn’t concrete. We will see if the situation changes in the coming weeks, but the only clarity is that Milan want a defender,” he stated.
