In the last week, speculation has linked iconic Spanish centre-back Sergio Ramos with a move to Serie A club Milan.
The experienced defender, 39, is approaching the end of his contract with Liga MX side Monterrey and reports last week suggested that the played had been offered to a number of top clubs on a free transfer.
Milan were linked as potential destination for the former Real Madrid man but the latest from transfer expert Matteo Moretto, via MilanPress, suggests that the Rossoneri are not convinced and, at this stage, will not be pursuing a move.
A determining factor behind the links of Ramos to Milan concern Luka Modric, the Spaniard’s former Real Madrid teammate.
Not only was a potential reunion with Modric touted as the reason for the links but also as an indicator of the Rossoneri’s bravery in signing older players, who despite their age, still have something to give.
Modric has settled in well in the heart of the Milan midfield and even at 40-years-old is still putting in conductor-like performances and has even played full matches, a testament to his fitness and stamina.
However, Ramos will likely not be joining the Croatian in Lombardy. Ramos’ salary demands are said to be quite significant and Milan are uninterested, despite the need to sign central-defensive reinforcements.
