Milan owner Cardinale returns to Italy, meets Furlani and Allegri

Milan owner Gerry Cardinale has returned to Italy, meeting the team, CEO Giorgio Furlani and coach Massimiliano Allegri on Wednesday morning.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan owner Cardinale has returned to Italy and visited coach Allegri at Milanello on Wednesday morning.

The last time Cardinale watched a Milan game at San Siro was in September 2024, in a 4-0 win against Venezia. The following November, he travelled to Spain for the Rossoneri’s Champions League match against Real Madrid.

During this time, obviously, Cardinale has remained in touch with the Milan management, so today’s meeting with Furlani is seen as a ‘sign of continuity,’ reports the pink paper.

Cardinale met with Allegri, Furlani and the team, but also held talks with President Paolo Scaroni and RedBird Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cardinale is also working to refinance the debt with Elliott by March, and according to Gazzetta, Toronto-based investment company Manulife Comvest is expected to provide the funds needed to pay off Elliott.

Negotiations are ongoing, and a deal would allow Cardinale’s RedBird to extend the payment timeline and, at the same time, lower the interest rates, remaining in control of the club with a long-term project.

“Milan is clearly in a phase of evolution,” wrote Gazzetta.

“It remains very important in the RedBird ecosystem and, for Cardinale, the club is an asset to be enhanced in the medium and long term, above all thanks to the stadium project, which in recent months has delivered a long-awaited breakthrough.”
