Milan agreement for Mateta who prefers Rossoneri over Nottingham Forest – report

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Milan have agreed a deal to bring in Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace for €30m, with the striker favouring a switch to San Siro rather than joining Nottingham Forest.

Milan have made ‘big step forwards’ in negotiations for Crystal Palace striker Mateta overnight, shaking hands over a €30m deal with the English club, reports Gazzetta.

According to the report, the Rossoneri are pushing to finalise the deal in the final days of the January transfer window as Mateta prefers a move to San Siro to joining Nottingham Forest, who are also strongly interested in the Frenchman.

The Rossoneri hope Palace will give the green light for a January transfer, but the Premier League side must find a replacement first.

It’s reported that Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen, a former Milan Primavera striker, from Wolverhampton. If the Norway international moves to South London, then Mateta will be allowed to join Milan in the winter transfer window.

According to the report, Mateta already has a principle of agreement with Milan over a €3m/3.5m deal per season plus add-ons.

Milan have already signed one centre-forward, Niclas Fullkrug from West Ham, in the January transfer window.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
