Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb is expected to leave if the club sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth in January. City have emerged as the frontrunners for Semenyo’s signature after it was revealed that the Etihad is the player’s preferred choice.
City’s crosstown rivals Man United were also keen on Semenyo, alongside Chelsea and Liverpool with the Ghana international’s £65m release clause becoming active in January. Semenyo has now indicated that City is his favoured landing spot, and talks between City and Bournemouth have initiated.
While City fans will be buzzing with their potential new boy, Semenyo’s arrival could spell the end for one of City’s brightest young stars. Forward Oscar Bobb is reportedly considering his future at the Etihad, and will likely push for an exit of Semenyo joins.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Bobb will seek new opportunities in January and already has plenty of interested suitors. Borussia Dortmund have already been in contact with Man City regarding Bobb’s situation, while Crystal Palace is also confirmed to be keen.
The 22-year-old joined City in 2019 and began to quickly ascend up the ranks at the club. He joined the first team in 2023 and went on to make 26 Premier League appearances scoring one goal and adding two assists.
Injuries have derailed much of his time however, with the player suffering a fractured leg early last season that kept him out for much of the campaign. He missed 200 days and 48 games, returning in March of 2025 but struggled to regain his form.
He’s made 15 appearances in all competitions for City so far this season, but suffered a hamstring injury inside 20 minutes of City’s Carabao Cup quarter-final tie with Brentford on 17 December.
Bobb is aware that more attacking arrivals at City would increase competition for places in the squad. Already a regular for his country Norway, Bobb hopes to remain firmly in the plans for next summer’s World Cup.
Norway will make their return to the World Cup for the first time since 1988, and the youngster is seeking more first team minutes at the club level to cement his place in the squad.
