Serie A side Inter Milan are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for Reds midfielder Curtis Jones. The Liverpool academy product broke into the first team in 2019 and has gone on to make 139 Premier League appearances.
Jones has struggled to nail down a regular spot under Arne Slot however, and finds himself down the pecking order. Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Florian Wirtz have seen the lion share of minutes in midfield for Liverpool with Jones having to settle for a place on the bench more often than not.
The England international has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season, many of which came from the substitute’s bench. The Standard has reported that Inter Milan are now interested in a loan deal for Jones with a buy option.
Any move for Jones is understood to hinge on an exit for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi who is the subject of interest form Nottingham Forest.
Liverpool is understood to be open to a move for the player if a suitable deal can be worked out. The player remains highly rated at Anfield after making his senior debut for the club in a Carabao Cup match against Milton Keynes in 2019.
Jones was voted man of the match after a mature performance in midfield. He made his Premier League bow in December of the same year in an away match against Bournemouth as a late substitute.
In January of 2020, Jones scored his first senior goal for the club with a curled effort that gave the Reds a 1-0 win in the Merseyside Derby. Albeit not a regular starter under Arne Slot, Jones has been a useful option for his manager having deputized at right back, left wing, and in the No.10 and No.8 roles in midfield.
The price tag for a future buy option for Jones is reported to be around the £40m mark. Liverpool are also known admirers of Inter Milan right back Denzel Dumfries and could look to include the player in any deal for Jones.
