Liverpool are keeping tabs on Fulham winger Kevin. The Brazilian only joined Fulham this past summer on deadline day for a club record fee of £34.6m from Shaktar Donetsk, but Football Insider has reported that Liverpool have now sent scouts to watch the player.
Liverpool chief scout Barry Hunter was reportedly in attendance at Craven Cottage on Saturday as Fulham thrashed Wolves 3-0. Kevin made his first start for the club and looked lively throughout.
While he did not manage a goal contribution, he impressed with his pace and trickery. He completed the most take-ons (five) and had the most touches in the opposition box (five) for the home side.
He was withdrawn at the 72th minute mark to warm applause from the Fulham faithful. It would become his seventh Premier League appearance for the club, the other six coming from the substitute’s bench.
He is expected to cement his place in the side going forward, after contributing an assist during last week’s Carabao Cup round of 16 win over Wycombe.
The 22-year-old has reportedly caught the eye of Liverpool for his dribbling and ball carrying ability. His versatility is another attractive quality, as he is able to play on both the left and right wing.
Liverpool are understood to be in search of a long term replacement for Mohamed Salah who hasn’t looked his prolific best this season. The Reds are known admirers of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and now looked to have added Kevin to their short list of wingers as well.
While Salah and Semenyo are primarily right wingers, a move for Kevin is not off the cards since the Reds are arguably in need of an established left winger in any case. Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, and new signing Hugo Ekitike have all deputized there but are not natural left side players.
Youngster Rio Ngumoha has also been given opportunities there at times, but Liverpool could see Kevin as a long term solution in that position.
