Reigning English champions Liverpool are hoping to improve on a run to the last 16 in their first Champions League campaign under Arne Slot, losing on penalties to champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The six-time European champions finished 10 points above second-placed Arsenal at the top of the Premier League and have landed a date with Madrid – the most successful team in Champions League history, with 15 titles – in the league phase this time in Europe.
The Reds will start at home to Atletico Madrid, who won 3-2 after extra time at Anfield to progress from the last 16 in the 2019/20 Champions League.

Liverpool’s opponents in the league phase include reigning Turkish champions Galatasaray, Dutch titlists PSV and their Azerbaijani counterparts, Qarabag.
Inter reached the Champions League final last season and finished second in Italy, while Marseille were runners-up in France.
Eintracht Frankfurt came third in Germany and had Hugo Ekitike to thank for 22 goals in all competitions in 2024/25, causing Liverpool to pay them an initial £69m for the France newcomer in July.
