Bayer Leverkusen extended their unbeaten run under new head coach Kasper Hjulmand to four games with a 2–1 win at St. Pauli on Saturday.
However, the victory came at a cost, as both captain Robert Andrich and star striker Patrik Schick were forced off with injuries.
Andrich had to come off at halftime after receiving treatment on his adductors, while Schick held his hamstring as he walked to the dressing room following his substitution in the 89th minute.
The injuries leave Leverkusen concerned about two of their key players.
“I don’t know yet what it is. I haven’t spoken to the doctors. Hopefully we’ll know more by Monday,” Hjulmand said after the game.
According to Bild, both players are scheduled for scans on Monday.
“We’re happy. We scored a great second goal and also showed character at the end, but it was very difficult and we’re very glad. I have to praise my team.
