Leeds United are said to be working on a deal to bring in a Premier League striker this month as the Whites aim to continue their survival charge.
Daniel Farke’s side have picked up plenty of points in recent weeks, with their recent last-gasp defeat to Newcastle United their first loss in eight top-flight games.
As a result, Leeds find themselves a handsome eight points above the drop, but with just under half of the season remaining, it seems as though Farke is not resting on his laurels.
And with the January window in full swing, the West Yorkshire side are hoping to take full advantage by nabbing a striker from one of this season’s Premier League strugglers.
According to TEAMtalk, Leeds have been ‘offered the chance’ to sign Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.
While Leeds have not been in direct contact with Wolves, they were reportedly given the opportunity to pursue a deal via intermediaries.
It appears as though Leeds have been given a signal that Strand Larsen could leave Molineux, with Wolves apparently open to letting the Norwegian leave for the right price.
Wolves’ dire situation at the bottom of the Premier League means that they will most likely be playing Championship football next season, meaning it may not be long before they start making plans for the next campaign.
It doesn’t seem very likely that Strand Larsen will be involved in said plans, particularly with the striker attracting interest in the summer, when Wolves held firm by pricing out willing suitors.
Given Wolves appear more resigned to letting the 25-year-old go, one would imagine his previous price tag of £40m may even be more than Leeds are required to pay.
While a player of his potential – he grabbed 14 Premier League goals in his first top-flight season – is unlikely to be cheap, Leeds’ main concern is perhaps the number of clubs thought to be vying for his signature.
Plenty of Premier League clubs have sent scouts to assess Strand Larsen, including Spurs and Aston Villa, while Borussia Dortmund has also been mentioned as a potential destination.
Therefore, Leeds may have to be decisive if Wolves give the go-ahead to begin talks over a move.
