Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is now the fourth highest goalscorer of all time for the Argentina national team after his goal during a 2-0 friendly victory over Angola in Luanda on Friday night.
Lautaro opened the scoring for his nation with a first-time finish off his right boot within the area just before half-time struck. He also went on to provide the assist for Lionel Messi, who added Argentina’s second deep into the second half.
That was Lautaro’s 36th goal for his nation, which means that he has overtaken Hernan Crespo (35) on Argentina’s list of all-time top goalscorers. El Toro currently sits in fourth place on that list, behind Sergio Aguero on 41, Gabriel Batistuta on 55 and the aforementioned Messi on an uncatchable 115.
Lautaro has now scored three goals and provided two assists from his three friendly appearances for Argentina this season.
That adds to a tally of eight goals and two assists from 14 appearances at club level this term. Four goals and two assists have come in Serie A, with an additional four goals from three outings in the Champions League so far.
