Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says a lack of consistency remains the biggest obstacle preventing the club from reaching the level of top sides such as Wydad Athletic Club. The two-time African champions struggled against the Moroccan giants, who handed them a 6-1 aggregate defeat in the CAF Confederation Cup. Wydad won both legs, including a commanding 5-1 victory in Casablanca."We lack a lot of things, but the most important is the consistency we donât have. This team was built about five to six months ago," Zito said. "You can easily see that they [Wydad] have been together for about three or four seasons. Itâs about teamwork, not individual players."Zito admitted that building a competitive team requires time, stability, and patience, noting that frequent player changes and injuries have disrupted the teamâs progress."All we need now is to be consistent in our team building. Consistency goes with quality. Once injuries and transfers set in, definitely you wonât get the consistency," he added.Following their continental exit, Kotoko have shifted their focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they will host Karela United on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
