Playing in their recently released Oktoberfest shirt, Bayern Munich made it five wins out of five in the Bundesliga this season with a commanding 4–0 victory over Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena on Friday evening.
Harry Kane twice threatened to break the deadlock inside the opening five minutes, but lacked his usual ruthlessness in front of goal early on.
Werder debutant Karl Hein, deputising in goal for the injured Mio Backhaus, impressed, yet he could do nothing to stop Luis Diaz from turning in Jonathan Tah’s clever backheel to give Bayern the lead midway through the first half.
Just before half-time, Kane doubled the lead, coolly converting from the penalty spot after being brought down by Marco Friedl.
After a rather quiet start to the second half, Kane found the net again in the 65th minute, hitting home after being cleverly teed up by Luis Diaz. The goal was the England captain’s 100th in a Bayern shirt.
But Bayern weren’t finished yet, as Konrad Laimer rounded off a festive Oktoberfest evening for the home side by making it 4-0 late on.
The Bavarians sit comfortably atop the Bundesliga table with 15 points and a goal difference of 22–3 after five matches.
