Juventus owner Elkann backs new coach: ‘Spalletti must lead us to victory’

Juventus owner and Exor CEO John Elkann has called on Luciano Spalletti to bring the Bianconeri back to winning ways while reaffirming his family’s historic ties to the club.

Speaking at the presentation of Stellantis’ partnership with Milano-Cortina 2026, with quotes via La Gazzetta dello Sport, Elkann was clear about his expectations: “It’s important that Juventus win again, and a coach like Spalletti, with his experience, must be the one to make that happen. That’s what all the fans expect.”

His words will inevitably add pressure on the Bianconeri coach, who took charge just at the end of October, following a turbulent period with Igor Tudor at the helm.

So far Spalletti has yet to lose a match in charge of Juventus but has now produced back-to-back draws against Sporting and Torino.

These are two significant results as they continue the Bianconeri’s struggles in the Champions League and then the Turin derby holds its own weight on and off the pitch.

Elkann also addressed the relationship between Exor, the club’s majority shareholder, and minority partner Tether, stressing that “the relationship between my family and Juventus is the longest-lasting in the world. It’s a strong, defining bond that began with my great-grandfather. We went through difficult times, like 2006 and again in 2022, but came out stronger.”

He added: “We’re open to anyone interested in Juventus, as long as our relationship is never called into question.”

Quick take: Touchline talk: leadership changes often bring short-term energy but require time for structure. Watch for shifts in pressing triggers, build-up patterns, and set-piece routines. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
