Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti admits he introduced David Openda and Jonathan David ‘late’ in a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina.
Juventus coach Spalletti admits Openda and David should have played longer in a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Franchi on Saturday.
The two summer signings spent most of the game on the bench and were only introduced at minute 88, replacing Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz.
A reporter asked Spalletti during his post-match press conference why the Canada and the Belgium international didn’t get more playing time and the Juve boss replied: “It’s true, I introduced them late. You are right. It’s true.”
Both David and Openda joined Juventus in the summer transfer window, but have been failing to match expectations so far this season.
The ex-Lille forward has only scored a goal and provided one assists in 15 appearances across all competitions, while Openda hasn’t yet found the net with the Bianconeri in 2025-26.
Juventus’ next game is away at Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League on November 25.
