The whole summer transfer window seemed to revolve around Ardon Jashari and Milan: From the initial interest we reported in June to the deal eventually being struck for a fee of €34m plus bonuses in August.
The player’s determination to join the Rossoneri was decisive in getting the move forced through.
His injury shortly after signing for Milan was unfortunate, though. He has been working his way towards a return for several months, and took a big step in that process with a 90-minute run-out against Virtus Entella in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Friday.
Naturally, Jashari is not yet at his peak condition given his lengthy injury lay-off. He will need a little while longer to get back into his best shape.
And for that reason, Jashari can be considered a new signing for Milan in January.
Massimiliano Allegri has already explained that the Switzerland international will be used either as a holding midfielder, or as a a deep-lying midfielder in a two-man pivot. Translated: That means he will either be an alternative to Luka Modric, or an option to play alongside him.
Whatever the case, it is becoming clear that Milan and Allegri have plenty of quality and are not short of choices to deploy in midfield, which is what is needed if they are going to compete right the way until the end of the season.
