RAI journalist Alessandro Antinelli honoured the 250 journalists killed in Gaza over the last two years during live coverage of Italy-Israel on Tuesday night.
Antinelli showed the ribbon and explained that he wore it to commemorate the “250 journalists killed in the war in Gaza, in what the United Nations commission of inquiry defined as a genocide. They tried to report, but regrettably, it is a fact that they didn’t return home.”
Before the game, over 10,000 people peacefully protested in the centre of Udine, and a minority group of agitators clashed with police before kick-off.
Italy eventually beat Israel 3-0, securing at least a runners-up finish in Group I.
