Inter destroy Liverpool 5-0 to book UEFA Youth League qualification

Benny Carbone’s Inter destroyed Liverpool 5-0 in the UEFA Youth League, booking their spot in the Round of 16.

The Nerazzurri made short work of their Reds counterparts this evening in the final round of the league phase of the UEFA Youth League.

They took the lead within two minutes when Lucas Clarke’s handling offence allowed Dilan Zarate to convert a penalty.

Pietro La Torre added a second on a corner with his chest and half-volley, and Liverpool wasted their best chance to get back into the game when Kieran Morrison fired his penalty onto the upright following Marello handball.

The hosts ran riot after the break, as Dino Putsen’s strike rattled off the inside of the upright, hit the back of goalkeeper Kornel Misciur and ricocheted into the net.

Matteo Mosconi got on the scoresheet soon after when controlling the La Torre assist with his right foot and netting with the left, and Kevin Moressa sealed the 5-0 result at the 84th minute with an angled drive.

It was a huge result, especially as it allowed the Nerazzurri to leapfrog Liverpool in the league table, going one point above them on 11.

The senior Inter and Liverpool teams face off tonight at San Siro in the Champions League.
