How does Cristiano Ronaldo make money outside of football?

Cristiano Ronaldo recently spoke about his life off the field, revealing that he’ll focus on his companies when he retires. But how does the Portuguese make money outside of football?

Former Juventus star Ronaldo has accumulated a fortune during his playing career. Still, thanks to his financial investments, he’s managed to expand further, becoming the first billionaire footballer, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

“I’m not obsessed with the money, but when you reach some level, money doesn’t matter anymore, but it’s always good to have more,” Ronaldo said in his latest YouTube interview with Piers Morgan (via The Athletic).

“The numbers don’t lie. If you see so many records in football, ‘Cristiano is there at the top of the list, it’s one record more’, it doesn’t surprise me because I knew my potential in football and outside of football. I knew I was going to reach that number, for many reasons.”

During the interview, Ronaldo revealed that he speaks every day with a person in charge of his investments and said he would focus on his companies when he retires.

Ronaldo owns several hotels and a company specialised in hair transplant in Turkey and across Europe.

The CR7 brand is a real empire that manages clothing, footwear and accessories. His hotels are located in several cities, including Lisbon, Madrid and New York. Ronaldo has also invested in gym chains and a digital content company.

The ex-Juventus star will turn 41 next year, and his contract with Al-Nassr expires in June 2027 and, as he also admitted, he will “soon” retire from football.

Speaking about how he sees his life after retirement, he said: “It’ll be tough and difficult, of course. Probably I will cry, yes. It will be very difficult, but I have prepared for my future since 25 or 26 years old. Nothing will compare to the adrenaline we have to score a goal. But, everything has a beginning and an end, so I’ll be prepared.

I want to learn more about my companies, other stuff. I want to do funny things, things that I didn’t do before. At my age, it’s getting more difficult to recover fast, but I’m enjoying this process. I have a different view and ideas, for me it’s a good challenge and I enjoy this period of my life.”
