Evan Ferguson’s Roma future has been discussed by Italian and English media in recent days, but Giallorossi coach Gian Piero Gasperini insists it’s still ‘too early’ to assess the Republic of Ireland international striker.
Scorer of just one goal in 13 appearances across all competitions this season, Ferguson’s future at Roma is under scrutiny as recent reports suggested the Irish striker could return to Brighton in January.
Roma coach Gasperini was asked his assessment of the 21-year-old forward after almost four months into the new season, but the Italian tactician remained cautious: “At this point of the year, many players are talked about, but then someone comes in and scores twice and everything changes,” the Italian coach said at a press conference on Saturday via Romanews.
“I believe we’ll see what happens later, but it’s still too early. There will be many games that can change things.”
Ferguson could start in a Serie A match against Cagliari tomorrow.
The Giallorossi will be without Artem Dovbyk, while Paulo Dybala and Tommaso Baldanzi have had the flu this week and mostly trained separately.
