Daniele Galloppa will be Fiorentina’s coach, almost certainly for the next two matches.
He will lead the team against Mainz in the Conference League and, in all likelihood, again at Genoa in Sunday’s crucial foot-of-the-table clash.
Roberto D’Aversa remained, until this morning, as I had already revealed last night, the number one candidate to immediately succeed Stefano Pioli.
However, the club decided not to move forward, at least for now, given that the international break is just around the corner.
D’Aversa waited for Fiorentina’s decision but did not spend the night in Florence. There was no veto from potential sporting director Goretti, in fact, his approval had arrived, but in such a delicate stage of the season, forcing a choice would have represented a significant risk.
Fiorentina therefore opted to stay patient, turning instead to the internal solution of Galloppa.
For now, the club will take its time before defining a long-term plan, preferring stability and calm reflection over rushed decisions that could deepen an already complex situation.
