Daniele De Rossi is keen to reunite with one of his old Roma midfielders at Genoa in January, but the Rossoneri are yet to make a final decision either way, Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà reports.
Niccolo Pisilli hasn’t had much of a chance at Roma during the first-half of the 2025-26 season. The 21-year-old midfielder wants to avoid a situation where he ends up spending the second half of the season sat on the bench as well.
Over the last few days, rumours of Genoa’s interest in the Giallorossi academy product have begun to surface. We can confirm that Genoa’s interest is genuine, and strong. De Rossi has always been a fond admirer of the one-cap Italy midfielder.
Importantly, however, the Giallorossi have not yet made a decision on whether or not to make Pisilli available for a loan move during the January transfer window. A final decision will only be made once Roma have completed their strategic planning ahead of the window.
Roma have bigger priorities elsewhere, but if Pisilli were to leave, another option in midfield would likely be required.
Genoa hope, meanwhile, that they can capitalise on De Rossi’s excellent relationship with Pisilli in order to push a deal through.
