Crystal Palace are operating at full speed as deadline day chaos sets in.
Having already been stripped of key figures across the pitch, Oliver Glasner is now racing to reinforce a squad that has been picked apart over the past two windows.
Eberechi Eze departed in the summer, Marc Guéhi followed him out the door in January, and Jean-Philippe Mateta is now poised to complete a move to AC Milan before the window slams shut.
Palace have moved quickly to secure Jørgen Strand Larsen as Mateta’s replacement — but the Eagles aren’t done yet.
With depth and creativity still major concerns, Palace are now pushing to get another attacking deal over the line late on.
Crystal Palace are exploring a late deadline-day move for Everton winger Dwight McNeil, with talks ongoing as Glasner looks to bolster his depleted options, according to reports.
Alan Nixon claims Palace are prepared to spend around £20 million to land the former Burnley man, who has slipped down the pecking order at Everton following David Moyes’ reshuffle at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Despite Jack Grealish’s season-ending injury, Everton remain well stocked on the left flank, with Iliman Ndiaye capable of filling the role and Chelsea youngster Tyrique George arriving on loan. That congestion could leave McNeil surplus to requirements — opening the door for Palace.
The Eagles have already strengthened on the right with Johnson and Evann Guessand, but the left side remains an issue, making McNeil an attractive option. Once described as “wonderful” by Alan Shearer, the Rochdale-born winger has struggled for rhythm this season, starting infrequently and managing just one league assist.
A move to Selhurst Park would offer McNeil a clean slate — and Palace another much-needed body in attack as they brace for a difficult second half of the campaign.
With time ticking down and their squad stretched thin, Palace can’t afford to be passive. McNeil may not be a glamorous signing, but his Premier League experience, work rate and left-sided balance could prove invaluable if Glasner is to steady the ship after weeks of disruption.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
