As Football Italia had already reported yesterday, former Italy coach Roberto Mancini has accepted the job with Al Sadd and will be in Doha to sign the lucrative contract tomorrow.
The tactician will celebrate his 61st birthday later this month and does so with a return to the Middle East, having been briefly the manager of the Saudi Arabia national team from August 2023 to October 2024.
While transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano had claimed that Mancini turned down the proposal from Al Sadd, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Football Italia confirmed on Monday that he was negotiating the final details of his contract.
Now Romano also agrees that the Italian is heading out to Doha over the next 24 hours to put pen to paper.
This contract is meant to run until May 2026.
He is set to make his debut on the Al Sadd bench on November 24 away to Al-Wahda in the AFC Champions League.
The club is currently sixth in the Qatar Stars League and is under interim manager Sergio Alegre, having fired Felix Sanchez on October 15.
