CM: Milan split over Loftus-Cheek – Allegri’s praise against mercato sacrifice

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a really intriguing case and AC Milan need to work out a solution for the Englishman and his future.

Ahead of the January mercato, a lot has been suggested about Loftus-Cheek’s future. It is a lot of maybes, without any real definites, and that means that the ongoings of the mercato could be interesting.

There are very few players like Loftus-Cheek in European football, and so getting rid of him is not an easy thing to do, regardless of the thoughts of Massimiliano Allegri. Considering he is a fan of the midfielder too, parting with him must be considered carefully.

As Calciomercato.com writes, the Italian took to him immediately, and this is shown by his game time this season. Appreciated for his versatility and ability, Allegri certainly sees a lot in the midfielder. However, he is not unsellable.

In fact, he could be sacrificed in January, with him being seen as an expendable member of an already big compartment by the management. Given his deal expires in the summer of 2027, too, his value will only decrease.

If the Englishman were to depart, it seems another defender would be targeted. So, whether Allegri would rather have a Swiss army knife or another defensive option could be key to his future.
