Chiellini on what Spalletti does ‘with anyone’ at Juventus and request as Italy coach

Giorgio Chiellini says Luciano Spalletti ‘hugs’ everyone’ at Juventus to ‘share his affection’ and reveals the coach once asked him to hold a technical meeting with Italy defenders.

Juventus’ Director of Football Strategy Chiellini spoke about Spalletti during the Social Football Summit in Turin on Wednesday and admitted being delighted by his attitude, on and off the pitch.

“He hugs everyone; he needs to share his affection,” Chiellini said via Gazzetta.

“He does it with anyone; he does it spontaneously and sincerely. When I introduced him to the lady who helps us in the cafeteria, he put down what he was holding and hugged her.

“Personally, what struck me was when he came to America with the national team, and I was in the United States. I decided to go see him, and he asked me if I felt like holding a technical meeting with the defenders.

“There were seven or eight of us, in front of a screen, reviewing the match played against Venezuela.”

During the same event, Chiellini admitted that the next months will be “difficult” for Juventus, but was confident the club would soon return to the “normality of knowing how to win.”
