Chelsea’s impressive start under Liam Rosenior continued at the weekend with a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, courtesy of goals from Estevão, João Pero, and a penalty from Enzo Fernández.
The victory marked Rosenior’s fourth win in five games in charge, adding to successes over Charlton in the FA Cup, Brentford in the Premier League, and FC Pafos in the Champions League. Their only setback came in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Arsenal, but the Blues remain in strong form.
Despite these encouraging results, Rosenior is already exploring options to strengthen his squad, and one player has caught the eye of Chelsea scouts.
Chelsea scouts have reportedly been keeping a close watch on Mohamed Kader Meïté, the 18-year-old Rennes striker who has quickly made a name for himself in Ligue 1.
The French–Ivorian forward, standing 6’4”, impressed this season by scoring three goals in 19 appearances, including a goal and assist against Rosenior’s former side Strasbourg in November.
According to Caught Offside, Chelsea see Meïté as a long-term investment, a towering forward capable of fitting into Rosenior’s system while also providing a goal threat in the box. The Blues have been among several Premier League clubs sending talent scouts to monitor his development, signalling that they could move decisively should the right opportunity arise.
While Meïté has drawn lucrative interest from the Saudi Pro League—Al-Hilal reportedly offering €40 million—the teenager is said to prefer staying in Europe to continue his progression.
With the January window still open, Chelsea are weighing whether to make a move before summer, potentially bringing in Meïté to reinforce their forward line and provide Rosenior with additional attacking firepower.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
