Chelsea tell their fans to ‘exercise extreme caution’ in Naples after two of their supporters were attacked in the city on the eve of the match.
Two Chelsea fans were treated at a local hospital following an attack in Naples on Tuesday night.
Gazzetta reports that the two Chelsea supporters were attacked near Piazza Santa Maria La Nova, a popular meeting spot in the city centre.
One of the two supporters is aged 22 and was treated at the Pellegrini Hospital, where he was later and discharged with a 10-day prognosis.
“The club is aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday evening in Naples,” Chelsea wrote in a message on X social media.
“Two fans are being treated in hospital, having sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“The club would like to remind all supporters to exercise extreme caution whilst in the city and take note of the advice shared ahead of this fixture.”
Tonight’s meeting at the Stadio Maradona between Napoli and Chelsea marks the final round of the league phase of the Champions League.
The Blues are currently in the top eight, so they have a fair chance to qualify for the Round of 16, while Napoli will be hoping to break into the top 24 to get a spot in the knockout playoff.
