Che Adams was originally meant to start for Torino’s Serie A match against Como on Monday evening, but has had to drop out of Marco Baroni’s XI at the last minute due to a bout of acute gastroenteritis, pre-match reports confirm.
As a result, Torino are without both of their two highest goalscorers for Monday’s Serie A match at home against Cesc Fabregas’s Como, who are 10 games unbeaten across all competitions ahead of kick-off.
Giovanni Simeone (4) is out with a hamstring issue, while Adams (2) is forced to sit out through illness. The Scotland international is not well enough to be named among the substitutes.
That means that captain Duvan Zapata is given the nod at centre-forward on Monday evening. The Colombian has not started for Torino since his side’s 3-2 loss against Inter on October 5, 2024, a game which resulted in Zapata tearing his cruciate ligament.
With Adams and Simeone both ruled out, Baroni goes into Monday’s clash against Como with no players with more than one goal to their name in Serie A so far this season.
