Argentina and Serie A legend Gabriel Omar Batistuta sees no difference between Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez and feels they can play together for the national team, but ‘one has to sacrifice more than the other.’
Former Fiorentina, Roma and Inter striker Batistuta praised Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, saying that his compatriot could well partner Julian Alvarez as the starting forward in the Argentina national team.
“I love them both. It’s a nice problem for Scaloni. I don’t know how he will make the choice,” Batistuta told TyC Sports.
“They both play, score goals, press, keep the ball and pass it around. I don’t see any difference. Moreover, they are both leaders for their respective teams and can, on their own, put the opposing defence in trouble.
“They could probably play together, but they should be asked for it. From the outside, it seems so. But in these cases, one has to sacrifice more than the other, being required to leave his comfort zone and play for the other one, but from the outside, it seems they can play together.”
During the same interview, Batistuta admitted that the playing style of most football teams bores him and noted that strikers such as him or Bobo Vieri no longer exist.
