Atlético Madrid are weighing up a move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson as they look to reinvest the funds raised from Conor Gallagher’s sale to Tottenham.
Los Colchoneros banked around €40m from Gallagher’s departure and are now targeting a central midfielder to replace the England international.
According to CalcioMercato, one of the profiles under consideration is Ederson, who has been a regular starter for Atalanta and remains one of the most sought-after midfielders in Serie A despite a season that has not quite reached the heights of previous campaigns.
The Brazilian has no shortage of admirers.
In Italy, Juventus have tracked him in recent months and are still expected to revisit the idea in the summer as they plan a major midfield signing.
Interest has also arrived from the Premier League, with Manchester United officials previously holding exploratory talks with Atalanta, while Galatasaray have also added Ederson to their shortlist during the current window.
The reports have suggested that Ederson may already be open to the idea of joining Atlético Madrid, but no formal offers have been made.
For now, the Brazilian remains focused on Atalanta, where he continues to play a key role under Raffaele Palladino.
Atalanta, however, are not ruling out a sale. With Ederson under contract until June 2027, the club feel no pressure to cash in and have set a clear asking price of around €50m.
That means Atlético would need to add roughly €10m to the Gallagher fee if they want to open serious negotiations, a threshold Atalanta insist must be met before talks can progress.
