Liverpool’s early-season turmoil has gradually given way to a sense of stability under Arne Slot.
After a damaging run of form that threatened to derail his first months in charge, the Reds have steadied themselves, putting together an impressive unbeaten stretch that has lifted them back into the Premier League’s top four and restored confidence both domestically and in Europe.
As momentum builds, however, Liverpool could be forced to contend with transfer interest in one of Slot’s most trusted defenders.
AC Milan are weighing up a renewed January move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, according to reports in Italy.
Calciomercato claim the Rossoneri see Gomez as an ideal fit thanks to his versatility, with the England international capable of operating at centre-back or across the full-back positions. That flexibility is highly valued as Milan look to strengthen their defensive options during a title push.
The Serie A giants attempted to land Gomez – described as “outstanding” by Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk – late in the summer window but were unable to strike a deal after Liverpool failed to line up a replacement.
Despite that setback, Milan’s interest has not faded, and they are now considering another approach midway through the season.
Limited game time at Anfield, coupled with Gomez’s ambition to play regularly ahead of the 2026 World Cup, could work in Milan’s favour. However, Liverpool may be reluctant to sanction a January exit, particularly with defensive depth already stretched.
Milan, who have already shown intent in the market this month, remain keen to add experience and quality at the back. Whether Liverpool are willing to disrupt their squad during a strong run of form remains to be seen, but the interest is one to watch as the window unfolds.
Elsewhere, Liverpool are said to be keen on Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
