Tottenham Hotspur’s difficult first half of the season continued to frustrate on Thursday night as they were held to a late draw, a result that further intensified the pressure on head coach Thomas Frank.
Spurs appeared on course for a much-needed win when Ben Davies finally broke his long scoring drought, but a stronger second-half display from Sunderland saw Brian Brobbey strike late on to deny the hosts all three points.
The dropped points left Tottenham languishing 13th in the Premier League table, with just seven wins from 20 matches. Performances have been inconsistent, goals have been hard to come by, and the mood among supporters has become increasingly tense.
With January approaching, attention inside the club is now firmly turning to the transfer market as Spurs look for solutions to reignite their campaign.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are closely monitoring Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche as they weigh up potential attacking reinforcements. The north London club are believed to be keen on adding more cutting edge in the final third, with several summer signings yet to deliver consistent returns.
Spurs have tracked the 23-year-old for some time and recently stepped up their interest by sending scouts to watch him in action at Stade Louis II. Those representatives were present for Monaco’s 3–1 defeat to Lyon last weekend, as Tottenham continue to gather first-hand reports on the French international.
Akliouche, who is under contract with Monaco until 2028, is regarded as one of the club’s standout talents, and that status is reflected in his valuation. Monaco are said to be holding out for a fee of at least £50 million to consider a sale, aware of growing interest from abroad.
This season, the attacker has contributed three goals and five assists across 22 appearances, while his overall record for Monaco stands at 41 goal involvements in 118 games.
He has also begun to establish himself on the international stage, earning five senior caps for France. Monaco captain Denis Zakaria has previously labelled him a “very good player,” praise that underlines why Spurs see him as a potential answer to their attacking problems.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
