Reports are claiming that Chelsea could have the opportunity to buy a Real Madrid superstar, with tensions in the Spanish capital putting pressure on a key player’s future.

Chelsea also have an uncertain future ahead of themselves, having parted ways with Enzo Maresca in the wake of more Premier League points being dropped before the new year.

Liam Rosenior is thought to be in line to replace the Italian in the Stamford Bridge dugout, but disharmony reigns in west London as BlueCo’s erratic tenure continues.

Another thing that is continuing at Chelsea is their ruthlessness in the transfer market, as even without a manager, their chequebook machine keeps on ticking – if reports are to be believed.

Indeed, a recent report out of Spain suggests the Blues are hoping to pounce as a global superstar mulls over his next move.

According to Fichajes, the lack of progress in Vinicius Junior’s contract talks at Real Madrid have opened up the possibility that he could move in the near future.

Chelsea appear to be most alerted by this situation, and are reportedly working on a €150m (£131m) proposal, forcing Real Madrid into a big decision.

Granted, the report is unclear in parts – it claims that the Blues are working on a bid, while its headline suggests Real Madrid have already received a hefty nine-figure sum.

One thing that is clear is that there is an opportunity to strike, and Chelsea know that time is of the essence.

Their bid puts unwanted pressure on Real Madrid, who must choose between sanctioning the biggest sale in their history and potentially breaking their financial policy to keep one of their best players.

The report appears to suggest that the feeling in west London is that the longer Vinicius Junior goes without signing a new deal, the better.

Meanwhile, on the player’s side, it even goes as far as saying the Brazilian has opened the door to a Chelsea move, and that he has ‘offered himself’ to the managerless club if the contractual standoff persists.

That would hint at a summer move being more likely, and in that sense, Real Madrid have time on their side, particularly with 18 months remaining on the winger’s contract.

But it is no secret that Vinicius is unhappy at Real, with a strained relationship between himself and manager Xabi Alonso being partly blamed for contract talks stalling, while he has thought about leaving previously.
