‘Talented’ Scottish midfielder Miller delivers, but Udinese ‘should have scored’

Lennon Miller was praised by Udinese coach Kosta Runjaić despite the Bianconeri’s 1-0 loss in Como, but the Scottish midfielder insisted that his team ‘should have scored’ in the second half.

Udinese’s summer signing Miller made a substitute appearance in the Bianconeri’s 1-0 loss against Como on Saturday. The 19-year-old was introduced during the break after a disappointing first-half display from the travelling side.

“Como are a very good team, they like to play football. In the second half, the manager changed a few things, and it seemed to work for the first 25-30 minutes,” Miller told DAZN at full time.

“Maybe we should have had a goal in the first part, but we never did. That was unlucky.”

Miller had only played 74 minutes in Serie A before this match, and reporters asked about his favourite role on the pitch: “I would say one of the two [in central midfield], but I like to play anywhere, whenever the manager wants me to play, but probably where I played today was my favourite,” the ex-Motherwell FC starlet replied.

Udinese coach Kosta Runjaić praised Miller at full-time: “We changed from three to a four-man back-line, which I think Como didn’t expect. We put in Lennon Miller, who is a very talented player, very good on the ball. He gave us additional balance, we pressed high, played with more courage and kept the ball. We created good chances, but in the end, it was not enough, and we lost the game.”

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
