Milan have completed the first official signing of the January transfer window, with Niclas Fullkrug immediately available for selection ahead of tonight’s trip to Cagliari.
The Rossoneri have formally registered the German striker with the Lega Serie A, confirming his arrival from West Ham United on a loan deal that includes a €5 million option to buy, as per CalcioMercato.
Fullkrug will wear the No.9 shirt and has been included in the squad for the match at the Domus Unipol Arena.
Thanks to a recent ruling approved by the Lega Serie A, clubs are now permitted to field newly registered players on the same day their paperwork is completed, removing the previous 24-hour waiting period.
As a result, Massimiliano Allegri has the option to use Fullkrug straight away, with the forward expected to start on the bench against Cagliari.
Fullkrug had already finalised his move several days ago and, with West Ham’s approval, was able to begin training with Milan before the end of 2025. He watched Sunday’s 3-1 win over Hellas Verona from the stands at San Siro and received his first call-up once the registration process was completed earlier today.
The striker arrives in Italy eager to reset after a frustrating first half of the season in England, where injuries limited him to nine appearances and 413 minutes without a goal. Milan see the deal as a low-risk opportunity to add physical presence and experience to their attack as they enter a decisive phase of the campaign.
